When accentuating the eyes, every protocol should include mascara. Mascara thickens and lengthens the eyelashes. It defines the eyes and makes them appear larger. Make certain to wiggle the wand from left to right to separate the eyelashes and avoid clumping the mascara. Start at the base of the lashes and proceed outward to make the lashes appear longer. Keep wiggling as you continue your stroke of the wand from the base of the lashes to the tippy-tops to keep the lashes separated. Don’t pump your mascara, it puts air into the tube causing it to dry out. Wait for your lashes to dry, then apply a second coat.
If you want to make your eyes appear even larger, take it a step further and try curling you eyelashes. I find it best to curl before coating with mascara, but you can also curl them after applying your mascara—but you may find it takes some of the mascara off or clumps the lashes. When curling your lashes, start at the very base of the lashes next to your eyelid and curl, then curl a second time midway through your lashes to give them a more natural, rounded appearance. You may even want to heat your eyelash curler with a hair dryer to make the curl hold longer. You should be careful when heating your eyelash curler to avoid getting it too hot and burning your eyelid. With extra mascara and curled lashes you will be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for whomever comes along!
